Becoming a Practitioner​

There are 8 online and 6 days of hands on courses in Small Animal or Equine, plus 20 hours of Elective courses, to complete the Tallgrass Animal Acupressure USA Practitioner Program. The program is self-paced, but recommended completion within 24 month period. Once you complete all the course requirements, you will be eligible to sit for the National Board of Certification for Animal Acupressure and Massage (https://nbcaam.org) certification exam.

 Course Sequence for Practitioner Program (Small Animal or Equine):

Online Courses:

  1. Overview of Traditional Chinese Medicine ($250)
  2. Meridian Theory ($275)
  3. Introduction to Five Element Theory ($275)
  4. Acupoint Classification ($275)
  5. Acupoint Energetics & Landmark Anatomy  - Equine or Small Animal ($300)
  6. Pathology - Equine or Small Animal ($325)
  7. Indicators & Assessment - Equine or Small Animal ($325)
  8. Practicum/Proficiency Verification - Equine or Small Animal ($125)

Hands On Courses:

  • Introduction to Animal Acupressure Hands on Training (2 day)- Equine or Small Animal ($385)
  • Meridians & Specific Conditions Hands on Training (4 day) - Equine or Small Animal ($850)

To Become Dual-Certified (Equine and Small Animal)

Complete the requirements for the first species.

There is a discount for dual certification and approximate cost is $1,850. Listed below are additional courses needed for dual certification for 2nd species:

  • Acupoint Energetics & Landmark Anatomy  - Equine or Small Animal ($300)
  • Pathology  - Equine or Small Animal ($300)
  • Indicators & Assessment - Equine or Small Animal ($160)
  • Practicum/Proficiency Verification - Equine or Small Animal ($100)
  • Introduction to Animal Acupressure Hands on Training (2 day Hands On)- Equine or Small Animal ($190)
  • Meridians & Specific Conditions Hands on Training (4 day Hands On) - Equine or Small Animal ($800)

Elective Courses

For Existing Students Only - One elective course  (20 Hours) is required to complete the Program. Elective courses may include the study of: essential oils, Reiki, crystals, massage, etc. and preferably in working with animals. Participants are requested to submit copies of certificates, letters or other verification of completion for courses in other complementary therapies to fulfill the elective requirement of (20 hours). Tallgrass elective courses in Business Practice, SA Food Energetics (small animal program), Essential Oils for Equines (equine program), Tui Na Preparation Course and Horses in Motion (equine program) can also fulfill this requirement.
